"For our honeymoon in Japan, we want to stay at a resort or inn we will always remember." Even with that wish in mind, it is hard to see which places offer honeymoon perks and how much they cost, and many couples may feel uneasy before they even start. You may also wonder whether those perks are only for couples who hold their wedding in Japan.

This guide introduces 10 hotels and inns in Japan whose official websites show honeymoon plans or anniversary extras, grouped into places you can use without a wedding, perks for couples holding a wedding, and places where you can request anniversary extras. The comparison table lets you weigh what each perk includes and its conditions on the same terms.

It also explains how to read listed prices, how accommodation taxes work, and what to say when you book so you can confirm the perks.

Hotels and Inns With Honeymoon Perks You Can Use Without a Wedding

This section covers 5 places whose official websites, as of October 2026, show honeymoon perks that do not require a wedding. They range from a hotel inside Tokyo's historic station building to resorts in Okinawa and Miyakojima and a hot spring ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn) in Ishikawa, so you can pick the kind of stay that suits you both.

The Tokyo Station Hotel: Maisonette and Suite Rooms in the Station Building

The Tokyo Station Hotel is located inside the Tokyo Station building, and it offers a "Honeymoon Package," presented in English, all year round. According to the official package page, it includes daily breakfast for two, a commemorative amenity on arrival, and a hotel credit of USD 100 per stay.

The package covers the Maisonette King, a 65-square-meter room on two levels, and the 58-square-meter Junior Suite King. The station building was designated a national Important Cultural Property in 2003.

The price is listed only as "from 285,792 JPY," with no mention of whether it is per room, how many nights it covers, or whether tax and service charges are included. The hotel connects directly to the Marunouchi South Exit of JR Tokyo Station, so it is easy to place at the start or end of a trip around Japan by shinkansen (bullet train).

Hotel Hyakuna Garan: Ocean-View Suites in Southern Okinawa

Hotel Hyakuna Garan is a hotel in Nanjo City, in the south of Okinawa's main island, where every room faces the ocean. Its official English booking site lists a stay plan called "Honeymoon Suite." According to the plan page, it includes room decorations, 1 bottle of sparkling wine, and a dessert plate at dinner, among other items, and dinner and breakfast are also included.

If you book through the official website, your stay is extended, with check-in from 2 p.m. and check-out by 12 noon. During your stay, you can also freely use Hojoan, a top-floor room with an open-air bath.

According to a note on the booking site, prices start at ¥80,500 per person per night, including tax and service charges. The amount changes by date, so check the total for the two of you on the booking screen. The hotel is about 35 minutes by car from Naha Airport.

Shigira Seven Miles Resort: Honeymoon Extras on Miyakojima

At Shigira Seven Miles Resort on Miyakojima, there is no set package. Instead, you choose honeymoon extras one by one. The extras are introduced on a dedicated honeymoon page, and the prices appear on the list of anniversary options.

For example, a floating breakfast, served on a tray that floats in the pool, costs ¥13,200 for two on top of the regular breakfast rate. It is available only in certain rooms with a pool, and at Hotel Shigira Mirage it is limited to 3 couples per day from March 1 to October 31. A handmade whole cake starts at ¥3,300, and a flower bath starts at ¥5,500. All of these prices include consumption tax, Japan's sales tax.

The honeymoon and anniversary pages are in Japanese only, so you may feel more at ease asking through the English inquiry form. The resort is about 15 minutes by car from Miyako Airport.

Kafuu Resort Fuchaku: A Suite and Spa Package on the West Coast

Kafuu Resort Fuchaku CONDO・HOTEL, in Onna Village on Okinawa's main island, presents "Honeymoon Bliss" on its English package page. The package includes 1 night in a Kafuu Suite, flowers, sparkling wine, breakfast and dinner for two, and a 60-minute spa treatment.

The Kafuu Suite is on the 12th floor of the hotel building, and its terrace has an outdoor jet bath that looks out over the sea on the west coast. The page does not list a price or the period when the package is offered.

As of October 2026, the booking button on the page links to a page that does not open. The hotel building was under renovation, scheduled to last until April 20, 2026, so before you make plans, confirm by email or phone, using the contacts on the official page, that the package is still offered. The resort is about 80 minutes from Naha Airport by airport limousine bus.

Beniya Mukayu: 3 Nights at an Inn Where Every Room Has an Open-Air Bath

Beniya Mukayu, in Yamashiro Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture, is a ryokan where all 16 rooms have their own open-air hot spring bath. Its official Japanese page features a 3-night program for honeymooners, which you can book by choosing dates for a 4-day, 3-night stay.

The perks include commemorative photos on arrival and at check-out, early check-in from 2 p.m., late check-out until 12 noon, and a 70-minute treatment for couples. The additional charge starts at ¥26,950 per person on top of the regular room rate, including tax and service charges.

However, this page was posted in 2021, and the program does not appear in the official plan list as of October 2026. Before booking, check by email whether you can still request it. The inn is about 15 minutes from Kaga Onsen Station by a free shuttle bus that requires a reservation.

Honeymoon Perks for Couples Holding a Wedding in Japan

For couples holding a wedding in Japan, this section covers 3 perks: a weekday beach wedding with a 1-night stay, stay vouchers for couples who marry at the hotel, and a wedding plan with 2 nights in a suite. All of them require booking a wedding, so if you are coming only to travel, choose from the places in the previous section.

Hyakuna Garan: A Weekday-Only Beach Wedding With a 1-Night Stay

Hotel Hyakuna Garan's "Just the Two of Us Beach Wedding Plan" is a wedding and stay package that the hotel suggests as a honeymoon. According to the official plan page, it costs ¥1,006,500 for two, including service charges and consumption tax.

It includes 1 night in a suite, dinner and breakfast with a kaiseki dinner (a multi-course Japanese meal) that the hotel calls Wa-Ryu Kaiseki, a civil-style ceremony, a dress and tuxedo, hair and makeup, a bouquet, and an album that comes with 200 photos as digital files. A civil-style ceremony is a non-religious ceremony in which the couple make their vows in front of their guests.

The plan is available on weekdays only, and the hotel holds just 1 wedding per day. There is also an English wedding inquiry form, so it suits couples who want a ceremony for just the two of them by the sea in Okinawa.

Prince Hotels: 3 Stay Vouchers for Couples Who Marry There

Prince Hotels gives couples who hold their ceremony and reception at a designated Prince Hotel 3 stay vouchers that can be used at Prince Hotels across Japan. According to the official wedding page, the condition is that the ceremony and reception together cost ¥1,100,000 or more.

You can choose from hotels in Okinawa, Karuizawa, Hakone, Hokkaido, and other areas, and use the vouchers either for consecutive nights or 1 night at a time. They are valid for 1 year from the day after the reception, and they cannot be used at some hotels or on some dates.

The information is in Japanese only and is current as of April 2026. It is a perk worth considering for couples holding a full reception in Japan who want to keep their honeymoon hotel costs down.

Hotel Okura Kobe: A Wedding Stay With 2 Nights in a Suite

In September 2026, Hotel Okura Kobe announced a wedding plan that includes a 3-day, 2-night stay in the Imperial Suite on the 33rd floor. The official announcement describes it as a "honeymoon stay after the ceremony."

The Imperial Suite is about 228 square meters and overlooks Kobe Port and the sea. According to the room information page, the regular rate is ¥506,000 for up to 4 guests, including tax and a 15% service charge.

The price of the wedding plan is described only as a "special price" and is not published. The wedding information is in Japanese only, so call to confirm the price. If you are also thinking about a kimono photo shoot in Kobe, you can search our Kobe kimono photography guide and photographer list.

Hotels and Resorts Where You Can Request Anniversary Extras

Even at places without a set honeymoon plan, booking anniversary extras can make your stay together special. The 3 places in this section show on their official websites what their extras include and how to request them.

Hoshinoya Okinawa: An Anniversary Plan With a Toast on the Beach

Hoshinoya Okinawa, in Yomitan Village on Okinawa's main island, offers a "Seaside Anniversary Plan." You sip Champagne from reclining chairs on the beach with dried fruit and cheese, and the staff can also help you arrange gifts and activities.

The Japanese page lists it at ¥24,200 per couple, including tax and a 10% service charge. The English page shows ¥20,000, excluding tax and service charges. On both pages, the room rate is separate.

Requests must be made at least 7 days in advance, and same-day cancellations are charged in full. It is not a honeymoon-only plan, but it suits couples who want a quiet toast by the sea.

ANA InterContinental on Ishigaki Island: Flower Decorations

At ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort, you can select "Honeymoon" as the occasion on the request form for anniversary options. Petal art, a design made with flower petals on the bed, comes in a "Happy Honeymoon" version and costs ¥22,000.

Other options include whole cakes, from ¥4,000 for a size 4 to ¥12,000 for a size 8 on the Japanese cake-size scale, and Champagne from ¥21,000. The page does not say whether tax and service charges are included.

Petal art and bouquets must be booked at least 1 week in advance. The page is in Japanese only, so sending a short message in English with your dates and the occasion will help get your request across.

Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo: Anniversary Extras You Can Arrange in English

On its English honeymoon page, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo explains that you can arrange a celebration tailored to the two of you, such as surprise gifts or a special anniversary menu. The page was updated on April 7, 2026.

There is no named honeymoon plan and no listed price. Inquiries are accepted by phone from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Japan time, or through a form.

It suits couples who want to add an anniversary touch on the days they stay in Tokyo. For how to spend your time in Tokyo, see our Tokyo honeymoon guide, which also has itineraries by trip length.

You can choose among the 10 places based on whether you want time by the sea, a quiet stay at a hot spring, or a base in the city. Use the comparison table to line up the perks and conditions, then narrow your options with 3 factors: season, tattoos, and itinerary.

For Okinawa's Beaches, Go After the Rainy Season and Watch for Typhoons

If you want to enjoy the sea in Okinawa or Miyakojima on sunny days, late June onward, once the rainy season ends, is a comfortable time to go. According to Japan Meteorological Agency records, Okinawa's rainy season normally runs from around May 10 to around June 21, and the normal values for Naha show sunshine hours rising from 159.5 hours in June to 227.0 hours in July.

On the other hand, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency's normal values, the number of typhoons approaching the Okinawa region is highest in August, at 2.2, followed by 1.9 in September and 1.1 in October. If you travel between August and October, build in a spare day before and after your flights for peace of mind.

According to the Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau's guide, many popular beaches open for swimming in March. If you also want a kimono photo shoot in Okinawa, take a look at our Okinawa kimono photography guide and photographer list.

With Tattoos, Choose a Room With Its Own Open-Air Bath

If either of you has tattoos, choosing a room with its own open-air bath lets you bathe without worrying about other people seeing you. The etiquette guide from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) notes that people with tattoos are often not allowed into hot springs, public baths, or pools, and it suggests private baths or ryokan with in-room baths.

At Beniya Mukayu, every room has its own open-air hot spring bath. At Hyakuna Garan, the special rooms Hakuin-no-ma and Garan Annex each have a private open-air bath with a view, though the water is not from a hot spring.

Pool rules at resorts also differ from place to place. Shigira Seven Miles Resort asks guests to keep tattoos covered outside their rooms, so check with the resort before booking.

City Hotels Fit Easily at the Start or End of Your Trip

City hotels in Tokyo and Kobe are close to airports and shinkansen stations, which makes them easy to fit in on the first or last night of your trip. According to The Tokyo Station Hotel's access information, the hotel is about 60 minutes by train from Narita Airport and about 30 minutes from Haneda Airport.

You could also rest at a city hotel on the night you arrive, spend a longer stretch in Okinawa or at a hot spring inn, and then return to the city at the end. For the order in which to visit several destinations, see our guide to honeymoon destinations in Japan.

Checking Listed Prices and Accommodation Taxes Before You Book

Before booking, check whether the price is per person or per room and whether tax and service charges are included, and budget separately for accommodation tax. The simplest way to make sure you receive the perks is to mention that you are on your honeymoon when you book.

Per Person or Per Room, and Are Tax and Service Included?

Prices at Japanese hotels and inns are listed in a mix of per-person and per-room rates. The Japan Tourism Agency's guide to ryokan explains that ryokan often charge per person with dinner and breakfast included, and that some ryokan now charge per room.

How tax and service charges are handled also varies from place to place. For the same plan at Hoshinoya Okinawa, the Japanese page showed ¥24,200 including tax and service charges, while the English page showed ¥20,000 without them. If an English page says a price does not include tax and service charges, consumption tax and service charges will be added to the listed amount.

If the price is per person, the total for the two of you is double. Prices marked "from," or "から" (kara) on Japanese pages, are the lowest possible rates, so check the total on the booking screen.

Accommodation Taxes Are Changing in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Okinawa

Accommodation tax is a local tax charged separately from the room rate, and it is changing in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Okinawa between 2026 and 2027. According to Kyoto City's announcement, since March 1, 2026, the tax has been ¥10,000 per person per night when the room-only rate is ¥100,000 or more per person per night.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government currently charges ¥100 or ¥200 on stays of ¥10,000 or more per person per night. From April 1, 2027, the tax will change to 3% of the room rate, and stays under ¥13,000 per person per night will not be taxed. Okinawa Prefecture plans to introduce an accommodation tax on February 1, 2027, at 2% of the room-only rate, with a cap of ¥2,000.

At places with hot springs, you may also pay a bathing tax set by the local municipality. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications sets the standard rate at ¥150 per person per day, so it is wise to leave a little extra room in your budget.

Mention Your Honeymoon When Booking and Confirm the Perks

The simplest way to make sure you receive the perks is to say you are on your honeymoon when you book and to confirm what is included. At some places, such as Hyakuna Garan, booking through the official website gives you earlier check-in and later check-out.

For places without an English page, a short message in English covering the following 3 points will help get your request across.

  • Your dates, the number of nights, and that the two of you will be staying
  • That you are on your honeymoon and would like a honeymoon plan
  • Whether the price is for two and includes tax and service charges

For plans that may no longer be offered, such as those at Kafuu and Beniya Mukayu, ask in the same message whether you can still book them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many perks are open to couples who are not holding a wedding, and anniversary extras should generally be requested 3 days to 1 week in advance. For commemorative photos in kimono, you can use a hotel option or hire a photographer.

Can We Use Honeymoon Perks Without Holding a Wedding?

Yes, some plans are open to you. The official pages for The Tokyo Station Hotel, Hyakuna Garan's stay plan, Shigira Seven Miles Resort, Kafuu Resort Fuchaku, and Beniya Mukayu do not require a wedding. On the other hand, the Prince Hotels stay vouchers, the 2-night suite stay at Hotel Okura Kobe, and the Hyakuna Garan beach wedding all require you to hold your wedding at that hotel. None of the places say whether proof of marriage is needed, so check when you book.

How Far in Advance Should We Request Anniversary Extras?

At the places in this article, the deadline is 3 days to 1 week in advance. At Shigira Seven Miles Resort, it depends on the extra: 3 days ahead for cakes, 5 days ahead for a flower bath, and 4 p.m. 3 days ahead for a floating breakfast. Hoshinoya Okinawa needs requests at least 7 days ahead, and petal art at ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort must be requested at least 1 week ahead. The Tokyo Station Hotel also asks guests to order cakes or flowers at least 1 week in advance.

Can We Take Kimono Photos at Our Honeymoon Hotel?

Yes, at some places. Beniya Mukayu's honeymoon plan has a "Commemorative Photos in Kimono" option for ¥18,700 per person. This option belongs to a plan posted in 2021, so check with the inn whether you can still request it. For a full photo shoot in bridal wear such as shiromuku, the all-white bridal kimono, you can find photographers near your destination in our directory of kimono photographers.

Summary

When choosing a honeymoon stay in Japan, the starting point is to tell apart plans you can use without a wedding from perks that require one. Even at places without a set plan, requesting anniversary extras can make your stay special. Check whether prices are per person or per room and whether tax and service charges are included, and budget separately for accommodation tax.

Start by using the comparison table to narrow your list to 2 or 3 places, then contact them about your dates and the conditions for the perks. If you also want commemorative kimono photos during your trip, you can find photographers near your destinations in our directory of kimono photographers.
